Reading And Reasoning

For my Science ACE in term 2, I was supposed to write a book review on this book that I had read.

For this book, the protagonist is a English scientist simply named Time Traveler. It all started when Time Traveler invites his friends to join him for dinner and starts telling them that time is but a fourth dimension and demonstrated the possibility of traveling time with a smaller version of a time machine and made an object disappear. He invited them to come for dinner next week again. In that day where they were meeting up again, the Time Traveler decided to go on a time traveling adventure first. He traveled to 802, 271A.D and met Eloi, a society of small, childlike adult. They were living in large and futuristic buildings. He soon manages to speculate that due to the improvement of technology, the humans now were subsequently no longer relying on intelligence and strength to survive anymore. Later, he realises that his time machine is missing and in order to get it back, he met the Morlocks, which later he found out that feeds on Elois. He also saved a Eloi from drowning named Weena and they fell in love. In the end, in order to save himself, he used a fire to distract the Morlock and Weena was also left there. After all the obstacles, he manages to get back his time machine and he traveled to the 30 million years later, to where he sees the last of the living things on a failing Earth. After that, he went back to present and shared his adventure with his friends. He also took out flower given by Weena to show it as an evidence. The next day, the Time Traveler went on another adventure but no news were heard from him anymore since then...

For this book, I think that it is quite interesting and exciting at times. I agree to one part of the book, that is time is only but the fourth dimension. I have always hoped to be able to travel time and discover what will happen in the future and the unknown parts of the past. This book manages to bring out the anticipation of what will happen next. Overall, I think this book is a success in not only relating Science to students and adults but in the plot of the whole story, the ability to make one hooked on it.
